Eligibility
The Springfield Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA) is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.
The SMHA offers eleven public housing communities with 778 units for families and senior/disabled individuals.
There are two ways to apply for public housing:
1. Visit the SMHA office to pick up an application, located at 101 West High St., Springfield, OH, between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday-Friday.
2. Download an application here, then print and complete.
Once the application has been completed it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, no appointment is necessary. Be sure to bring these original documents with your application: birth certificates, social security cards, copies of police record, proof of all income, verification of all assets.
The SMHA does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: veteran, homeless, rent burden, displaced, disabled, and elderly.
