The Hornell Housing Authority is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.
This housing authority offers two public housing communities dedicated to senior/disabled individuals, one 50 unit family apartment community ranging from 2 to 5 bedrooms, and nine single family scattered homes, all located throughout Hornell. For a complete, detailed listing of the different communities offered, please follow this link.
There are two ways to apply for public housing:
1. Download the application here, then print and complete.
2. Stop by the housing authority office, to pick up an application, located at 87 East Washington St., Hornell, NY 14843, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am-4pm.
Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the above address. Be sure to include these original documents with your application: birth certificates, social security cards, proof of income, and photo IDs for all adult household members, a police background check of where you live must be completed, and notarized.
This housing authority does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: living and/or working in Hornell, homeless, rent burden, or living in substandard conditions.
