Eligibility

The Lincoln Housing Authority (LHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled households.

The LHA offers Scattered Site homes for families ranging in size from 2 to 5 bedrooms, and senior/disabled housing ranging from studios to 2 bedrooms.

There are three ways to apply:

  1. Visit the LHA website to submit an online pre-application here.
  2. Download a pre-application here, then print and complete.
  3. Visit the LHA office to pick up a pre-application, located at 5700 R Street, Lincoln, NE 68505, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday-Thursday; and on Fridays 8:00 am until 4:30 pm CT.
Once the paper pre-application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above.

Please note: You will receive a confirmation number once the pre-application has been submitted online. Please print that page for future reference. Also, you must print and sign the Authorization of Release of Information, and mail to the LHA. If you do not have access to a printer, they will mail you a copy once your application has been reviewed.

Documents are not required at this time. But, if you would like to send them in to speed up the process here is what is needed: Social Security Cards and birth certificates or naturalization papers for all household members, proof of all income, bank statements, any other assets, residency information for the last five years, proof of disability such as social security award letter.

The LHA does have a preference for: Disaster such as flood or fire, victim of domestic violence, working at least 25 hours per week. elderly, or disabled.
Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.
