Eligibility
The Hall County Housing Authority (HCHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for families and senior/disabled households.
The HCHA offers three Public Housing communities with 391 units for families and senior/disabled households, ranging in sizes from studios to 3 bedrooms.
Please note:
- All Public Housing residents that are not working, disabled, in job training, elderly or have a medical exemption, must preform eight hours of community service a month.
- This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, applicants who do not qualify may have a longer wait to receive assistance.
To apply, visit the HCHA office to pick up an application, located at 1834 West 7th St., Grand Island, NE 68803, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm CT, Monday-Friday. The office is closed from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm every third Thursday of the month.
Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the address listed above, from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. The office is closed from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm every third Thursday of the month.
Be sure to include these documents with the application: Social Security Cards for all household members, and photo IDs for all adult household members.
The HCHA does have a preference for: Elderly, disabled, and families.
Important note: Applicants who have been placed on the waiting list must inform the housing authority immediately if your application information changes (such as contact information, income, and household members). In the case that the office sends a notice that does not get returned, or if application information is out of date, your name may be terminated from the waiting list. Contact the housing authority to find out how to update application information.
