This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba County, North Carolina

The Western Piedmont Council of Governments Regional Housing Authority (RHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from July 1, 2024 at 8:00 am ET, until further notice. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in August, 2022

Preferences

This waiting list has the following preferences:

• Family that has been terminated from its HCV program due to insufficient program funding

• Live, work, or who have been hired to work within Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba County

• Family that includes a family member who is a person with disabilities

• Active members of the United States Armed Forces, Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, or spouses and surviving spouses of U.S. Veterans where the veteran was discharged other than dishonorably

• Families or individuals who are literally homeless and non-elderly persons with disabilities transitioning out of institutional and other segregated settings, at serious risk of institutionalization, homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless as defined by HUD, consistent with the North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness and on consultation with local partner agencies

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.
