Eligibility
The Housing Authority of the City of Goldsboro (HACG) Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from February 4, 2020, until February 6, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.
Please note: According to the HACG, "The purpose of the Mainstream Voucher Program is to provide rental assistance for non-elderly (18-61), low-income families with at least one verifiably disabled family member."
To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.
Preferences have not yet been confirmed, but the following demographics were listed on the application. These may or may not be preferences:
- Family is currently homeless (living outside or in a car; living in a shelter; living in a hotel/motel that is paid for by a nonprofit organization or a governmental institution; living in an institution for less than 90 days and was otherwise homeless before entering the institution)
- In immediate danger of losing your primary nighttime residence AND have nowhere else to go and not enough resources to find other permanent housing
- Previously experienced homelessness AND are currently participating in a permanent supportive housing program or rapid rehousing program
- Transitioning out of institutional and/or other segregated setting
- At serious risk of institutionalization
It is not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list.
