Eligibility

The Falmouth Housing Authority (FHA) Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted on May 31, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the FHA, this waiting list is for applicants "between ages of 18-61, disabled, at risk/homelessness."

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Print the application that was available online here.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Mainstream: Household includes a non-elderly person (18-61 years of age) with disabilities and is transitioning out of institutional and/or other segregated settings, at serious risk of institutionalization, homeless, at risk of becoming homeless (for reasons beyond Title 42, Chapter 110, Subchapter I, of the United States Code, ref: pgs. 7-9, NOFA -2017 Mainstream Voucher Program).
  • Involuntarily displaced and is not living in standard permanent housing, or is homeless (per Title 42, Chapter 110, Subchapter I, of the United States Code). Examples of involuntary displacement are: (1) Federally declared natural disaster, (2) Physical/Mental Abuse, (3) Reprisal, (4) Hate crimes, (5) Current unit is inaccessible, or (6) HUD disposition.
  • Living in substandard housing (a homeless family is considered to be living in substandard housing).
  • Paying more than 50% of gross monthly income for rent and utilities for at least 90 days.
  • Live or work in the Town of Falmouth. Work is defined as working for at least 15 hours per week for the past six (6) months.
  • Live or work in the remainder of Barnstable County, Dukes or Nantucket Counties. Work is defined as working for at least 15 hours a week for the past six (6) months.
  • Veteran of the US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge or his or her surviving spouse.
  • Participants in the DIAL Program who are no longer eligible.

It is not known how selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
