Eligibility

The Ashland Assisted Housing Authority (AAHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open.

The AAHA is accepting Section 8 HCV applications for this waiting list from September 20, 2021 at 9:00 am ET, until further notice.

There are three ways to apply during the opening period:

  1. Print the application available online here. Select the "Assisted Housing Application 2021" link.
  2. Pick up an application at the AAHA City Building, located at 1700 Greenup Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101 (silver housing box on the first floor).
  3. Pick up an application at the Ashland Transportation Center lobby, located at 99 15th St, Ashland, KY 41101.

Once the application has been completed, it must be either:

  1. Dropped off on a walk-in basis at the AAHA, located at 1700 Greenup, Suite 212, Ashland, Kentucky, during regular business hours.  Housing Specialists will only be available Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
  2. Applications may also be dropped off in the silver drop box on the first floor of the AAHA City building, address mentioned above.
  3. Emailed to [email protected].

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Preference 1:
    • Families who are victims of domestic violence.
    • Families who are victims of domestic violence in public housing.
    • Families displaced by government action.
    • Families deemed as homeless by written verification from a local support agency (i.e Salvation Army, Shelter of Hope, etc.). Any family that is deemed “homeless” will be considered/maintained in “homeless” preference for 24 months from the date of written verification
    • A family where the head, co-head, or spouse is defined as a veteran.
  • Preference 2:
    • Families working or attending school in Boyd County.
  • Preference 3:
    • Families who are not working or attending school and live in Boyd County.
  • Preference 4:
    • All other families.

Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.
