Eligibility
The Manhattan Housing Authority (MHA) is currently accepting Public Housing waiting list pre-applications for families and senior/disabled individuals.
The MHA offers three Public Housing communities with 229 units for families and senior/disabled individuals.
There are three ways to apply:
- Visit the MHA to pick up a pre-application, located at 205 S. 4th Street, Suite G, Manhattan, KS 66505-1024, from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Mondays; and from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm, and 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm CT, Tuesday-Friday.
- Download a pre-application online here, then print and complete.
- Request to have a pre-application mailed to you by calling (785) 776-8588 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Mondays; and from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm, and 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Tuesday-Friday.
Once the pre-application has been completed, it can be mailed to PO Box 1024, Manhattan, KS 66505-1024, or be hand delivered to the MHA office at the address listed above.
Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Birth certificates, and Social Security Cards.
The MHA does have a preference point system that may improve your spot on the waiting list: Displaced due to local government action, displaced due to local economic development, displaced due to a federally declared disaster.
