The mission of the United Tenants of Albany is to improve the living conditions of tenants, including physical housing conditions, tenants' rights for security and equity, and the quality of life in the community. Priority will be given to work with people with the greatest needs, such as Tenants with lowest incomes Worst housing conditions Most vulnerable situations Emphasis will be placed on self-help efforts and on organizing tenants and neighbors around broader housing issues whenever possible as well as providing information and counseling to the general public. The United Tenants of Albany offers the following: A drop-in center, which provides crisis intervention and counseling A telephone hotline service, which provides information and responds to questions on housing issues Counseling, mediation between landlords and tenants, and court advocacy Coordination of homeless prevention services with other organizations to provide assistance and support for people who are at risk of eviction or foreclosure or who have already been displaced T raining on landlord/tenant issues Contact for more information.
