Volusia County Community Assistance Division -Section 8

The Volusia County Community Assistance Division offers rental assistance and provides safe housing for families and the elderly throughout Volusia County by a means of the Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. Participants are able to find their own suitable housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments. Eligibility is determined based on the annual household gross income and composition. Written applications are accepted only during an open waiting list period. During the open waiting list period, the PHA will collect information on the household income, assets, and composition. All applicants will be placed on a waiting list by the date and time applications were received (there are no local preferences). There will be an interview to follow, if selected, to determine eligibility of the program. The PHA third party verifies an applicants information with other local agencies, law enforcement, employer and bank. If chosen, the applicant will attend a briefing for issuance of the housing choice voucher.
