Mesquite, Texas Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

The Mesquite Housing Division (MHD) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed.  It was last open for one day in June, 2019. Before that, it was open for homeless applicants for one day in April, 2017; for one day in January, 2016; and in 2008. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Homeless within the locality of Mesquite; Terminated from another Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program due to insufficient funding; Head, Spouse, Co-Head, or sole member is employed; Head, Spouse, Co-Head, or sole member is elderly; Head, Spouse, Co-Head, or sole member is disabled; Head, Spouse, Co-Head, or sole member is employed is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

2,000 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.
