Eligibility
The Syracuse Housing Authority (SHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from March 9, 2020, until March 15, 2020. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.
To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete an online application.
This waiting list had the following preferences:
- Participants of the VASH program (Ranking 1)
- Participants of the Main Stream Vouchers, Special Purpose Vouchers (Ranking 1)
- Participants of the Public Housing Conversion program (Ranking 1)
- PBV Participants transitioning to HCV (Ranking 1)
- Victims of Domestic Violence (VAWA) (Ranking 2)
- LEAD Referral (Ranking 2)
- Elderly (62 or older) and/or Disability (Ranking 3)
- Families with children (Ranking 3)
- VASH transitioning to HCV (Ranking 3)
- Residency (Ranking 4)
3,500 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
