Monona Meadows is a subsidized housing community for seniors over the age of 55 and the mobility/sensory impaired. The termsubsidized housingmeans that the rent is based on income. A resident of the community pays approximately 30% of their income as rent.
The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U.S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent. Resident rent is based on approximately 30% of income. A good estimate of your rent would be to take 30% of your gross annual income and divide it by 12 months. This will give you an estimate of what your monthly rent could be.
Monthly rental of the apartment, as well as heat, water and an electric allowance. An electric allowance is a certain amount taken off of the resident's rent payment meant to help the resident pay the electric bill. The allowance amount is based on average usage for the apartment and may change annually. Residents will still receive an electric bill, but the allowance is intended to help pay for it. Residents may still be eligible for energy assistance from the state.
Monona Meadows offers spacious studio and one-bedroom apartments, as well as a few more-accessible apartments for the sensory/mobility impaired. For square footage, studio apartments are approximately 468 square feet and one-bedroom apartments and accessible apartments are approximately 566 square feet.
There is a one-year lease, but we understand the necessity of unanticipated move-outs.

Located in an area with single-family homes, apartments and condos, Monona Meadows is 15 minutes away from downtown Madison and conveniently close to shopping, medical services, and a variety of restaurants.
Our residents enjoy frequent parties, potluck suppers, bingo, Euchre and Skip-Bo games which are held in the community room. Our residents are active participants in RHF's Project H.A.N.D.S.
A Social Service Coordinator is available for residents' personal needs.
