About This Building
FOR THE HOMELESS:
Westmoreland Community Action assists homeless families acquire the skills they need to live independently and secure safe permanent housing. Services for enrolled families include temporary housing, case management, life skills training, transportation assistance, budgeting and nutritional counseling, referral to community services, intervention and advocacy for children in schools, mental health referral, and basic furniture and supplies.
Homeless families eligible for Next Steps Supportive Housing Program are families that includes at least one parent or guardian and one child under 18 years of age; a homeless pregnant woman 18 years or older; a homeless individual in the process of securing legal custody of any person who has not reached the age of 18 years. A family is considered homeless only when the family resides in an emergency shelter; in transitional supportive housing; in places not meant for human habitation such cars, parks, sidewalks, abandoned buildings; is being evicted within a week from a private dwelling with no other place to go and lacks the resources and support networks needed to obtain housing.
