An eligible disability can be a history of substance use disorder, a mental illness or a diagnosis of AIDS or AIDS related diseases that impede the ability to live independently. An individual coming into the Shelter Plus Care Program with the prognosis of chemical addiction must have 90 days clean from the point of application, demonstrate the willingness to participate in a recovery based program of treatment, must show a strong commitment to abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and should have two strong supports (i.e., Sponsor, Home Group, etc.)
Veteran's Housing Program:
The Veteran's Permanent Housing Program is funded by the HUD Supportive Housing Program. This program is designed to provide permanent housing to income-eligible individuals who are a minimum of 18 years of age, are low-income households, have veteran status by national standards, are homeless by HUD definition and have been diagnosed as having a disability.
Participants contribute 30% of their adjusted gross income to the program.
