The Long Island Council of Churches, a faith-based social service agency, assists the poor, needy and powerless in the region from all walks of life in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Ninety-five percent ofclients are poor.
Offices are located in Hempstead, Freeport and Riverhead, three of the poorest communities on long island.
