About This Building

Attleboro Housing Authority provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of programs such as Low Rent Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. These programs are income based and the eligibility guidelines are set by HUD. There may be waiting lists for rentals or vouchers and at times the lists may close to new applicants based on the size of and length of wait on the lists. If you are in need of housing assistance in the area please contact the Housing Authority directly to obtain more information about eligibility requirements, availability of rentals or vouchers, the status of any waiting lists and their application procedures. Their office is available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm Wednesday 8:30am - 5:30pm and Friday 8:30am - 1:00pm to assist you.
At the Attleboro Housing Authority, we have 52 two-bedroom units and 39 three-bedroom units on our family site, Hillcrest Oaks. There are also 2 one-bedroom and 13 two-bedroom units offsite at our Martin Street facility and 6 three-bedroom units located in three separate duplexes within the city limits.  The Attleboro Housing Authority also has a total of 319 one-bedroom elderly and handicap units located at four separate developments.
There are approximately 90,000 units total of state and federally assisted public housing in Massachusetts.  Public housing developments are apartments that are built and subsidized by either the state or federal government and are managed by local housing authorities.  There are 253 local housing authorities in Massachusetts.
Rent: The rent a public housing tenant pays is based on household income and whether the costs of utilities (electricity, heat, cooking fuel) are included.
In order for the Housing Authority to process your request for housing, the following verification must accompany your application:
    Verification of your income
    Verification of your assets
    Birth Certificates for all members in your household
    Social Security Cards for all members in your household
    Disability verification (if applicable) -- letter from physician stating the nature and duration of your disability
    Discharge papers for Veteran Status (if applicable)
