The Atlantic Park Apartments Affordable Low Income

About This Building

The Atlantic Park Apartments began as twoseparate multi-family buildings that were listed on the NationalHistoric Registry as “contributing” to the South Stamford HistoricalDistrict.  Suffering from years of abuse and neglect, the plan was togut, reconfigure, and join the two buildings to create the Atlantic ParkApartments that would consist of 27 furnished studio apartments forsingle adults.

As an historic rehab, many of the original trims, moldings, and other architectural features were retained or restored. Changes tothe building's façade had to conform to the requirements established forhistorical building restoration. Each apartment is 400 to 450 squarefeet and retains some unique feature of the original building.  Thespace between the two buildings is now a bright and airy reception areawhere the security desk is located and is accessible from the street andthe back parking lot. A sitting area near the mailboxes, along with acommunity room and a meeting room encourage interaction among tenants.

While several apartments are specifically designed forhandicap use, each apartment can easily be converted for anyone who ishandicapped, with wide doors and railings in the tub/shower area. Apartments feature walk-in closets, hardwood oak floors, tile bathrooms,fully-equipped kitchens, and come fully furnished with table, chairs, bed, dresser, night stands, and lamps from This End Up.
