Developed in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, these communities provide economical alternatives for very-low-income seniors under HUD's Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly program. The rent paid by residents is calculated at 30 percent of their annual adjusted gross income.
The Gardens is centrally located approximately one mile from downtown Glendale, California. The Americana at Brand and Glendale Galleria are a short 15-minute walk from the community. Also close by are city hall, the police department, post office, library, YMCA, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies and various restaurants. The senior center and adult recreation center are just a few minutes away. Many medical offices and hospitals, such as Glendale Adventist and Glendale Memorial hospitals, are within two miles of the community. There are many conveniently located bus stops in the vicinity.
