Avocado Court is a transit oriented, infill development that offers close proximity to employment, schools, transit and neighborhood services.  The development will set aside 8 apartments as permanent supportive housing for disabled veterans with case management provided by Interfaith Community Services. Thirty percent of the apartments consist of three-bedroom family housing.  Residents will have access to CHW's award-winning classes and programs include after school learning program, Financial Fitness classes, employment training and skills, and case management for special needs population in the 1,580 square foot community building.
Avocado Court has 8 units dedicated to disabled veterans who have been chronically homeless. These highly-affordable homes offer veterans the opportunity to pay no more than 30% of their income towards housing. Onsite services offered at Avocado Court are critical to these residents' stability. The community is also about choice - not all veterans want to live in downtown San Diego or live in a veteran-only property. Avocado Court is located in North San Diego County, very close to USMC Camp Pendleton. The community is also non-smoking, promoting a healthy lifestyle for all residents, including those who may be coming out of addiction as some veterans are.
